A basic blog installation includes all the back-end work setting up your domain, hosting and onpage installation and configuration. To order your blog all you need to do is upload some basic business information and choose the look and feel you want your blog to have initially from thousands of free designs.

I use the Wordpress blog platform and some of the Internet’s leading hosts for your blog. While I have worked with many hosts, I have found a handful that are very good at supporting blogs, and Wordpress is particular. (My favorite is also one of the most reasonably priced; Hostgator).

Here’s how your blog will be established:

• I will install your blog and theme on the hosting account I will set up for you, or on the Wordpress compatible host you designate using the login details you provide.
• I will also configure your business email accounts, set up your ftp account and configure your Wordpress database on your domain host.
• I will direct your nameservers to point to your new blog/site at the registrar you have chosen using the login information you provide.
• I will install and configure the plugins (usually 6-12) that turn your blog into a functioning online business that’s easy for you to maintain, easy for your visitors to find and use and even easier for the search engines to find and rank.
• I will create the RSS feed(s) that make it easy for your visitors to keep up with what’s new on your blog. In a premium installation, I will also register it with with Feedburner and many other directories to spread your influence wider.
• I will install and configure the plug ins that will ping the search engines and directories to visit and index your site each time you post (but not when you edit – so you’ll never be penalized for spamming the spiders).
• I will install the leading contact form and comments configurations that open the conversation between you and your customers while shutting out the comment spammers.
• I will install generic site use and privacy policies that will help you rank in the search engines and show your visitors that you can be trusted.
• I will include your main keyword terms (you provide) in your categories, links, and permanent page set-ups to properly lay the foundation of your free search engine ranking efforts
• I will populate your blog with the initial items (five maximum) – usually three posts, an about/contact and a privacy page that you provide. (I can write these for you as part of a premium installation).
• Of course, you’ll get all the log-in details for all the accounts I’ll create on your behalf including your domain registration, main hosting panel, Wordpress.com (for spam blocking and stats), general email, feedburner (for RSS), and FTP details, etc.

What you will need to provide:

When you have the following ready to go, we can launch your blog within 1-3 days (excluding weekends)

• Your hosting account – I will be happy to register your domain name for this project and set up your hosting account at one of these hosts. Cost of the domain name and hosting is separate from the blog installation price.
  • Host Gator – $7.95 per month (can be month to month)
  • Dreamhost – $6.95 per month (minimum 1 yr. hosting purchase required)
  • Bluehost – $6.95 (minimum 1 yr. hosting purchase required)
• Initial posts – You supply one 300-500 word post for each category (main keyword) you would like initially displayed.
• Initial post photos/graphics – You supply any photos you would like displayed in your initial posts, or in the sidebars of your blog.
• Contact info – You supply the contact information and labels you would like used on your contact form.
• About info – You supply one 100-300 word description you would like used for your “about” page. This is your chance to tell people what your business is about. I recommend you keep it focused on your customer and what they are likely to gain through reading your blog. Here is an example:
