Independent SEO & AI Search Review
Is Your Search Strategy
Still Right?
Your team or agency may be doing good work. But Google is changing, AI is reshaping how buyers discover and evaluate companies, and yesterday's priorities aren't automatically today's.
The Independent SEO & AI Search Review gives you a senior outside assessment of what you're doing now, what still makes sense, and what needs to change.

Success is a moving target
Something has changed for every marketing leader in 2026. You may be new to your role, inheriting a team or agency you didn't choose. Or you may have worked with the same people for years. Either way, what worked a year ago can't simply be assumed to be the right strategy now.
Your buyers are changing how they discover, evaluate and choose companies. Google still matters, but increasingly those journeys also run through ChatGPT, Claude and other AI platforms. That changes what it means to be visible — and what your team needs to prioritize.
The status quo needs to be re-evaluated, not automatically abandoned.
Who It's For
Who needs an independent review?
This Review is especially useful when you:
- have stepped into a new marketing leadership role and inherited the existing strategy, team or agency;
- have recently hired or changed agencies and want an independent assessment of the direction;
- are considering whether to keep, change or expand an existing agency relationship;
- have seen organic performance weaken and are getting competing explanations for why;
- are planning a redesign, migration, replatform or major content investment;
- are being asked what your company should be doing about AI Search;
- have capable people doing the work but no senior search specialist independently assessing the priorities.
The Four Questions
Do you perform well across Google and AI?
Before any search engine ranks you, any AI answer cites you, or any agent interacts with you, your site has to clear four levels of usability. They're the same four whether the visitor is a person, Google's crawler, or an autonomous agent:
Not every company needs to act on all four areas today. The Review distinguishes what matters now from what can wait.
The Difference
Go beyond a traditional audit
A traditional SEO audit asks:
What is technically or strategically wrong with the site?
My Review asks:
Given everything happening across traditional and AI Search, are we pursuing the right priorities—and what should leadership do about it?
| Traditional SEO Audit | Independent SEO & AI Search Review |
|---|---|
| Finds SEO problems | Evaluates whether your overall direction is right |
| Primarily Google/search-engine focused | Looks across Google and AI discovery |
| Usually written for SEO practitioners | Written first for the executive responsible for the outcome |
| Produces recommendations | Prioritizes what to Stay, Change, Stop, Start or Investigate |
| May be performed by the current provider | Independent of the team or agency being evaluated |
| Usually ends with findings | Produces a sequenced 90-day decision plan |
What You Receive
An Executive Decision Brief first, then details
You already have people who can generate a technical report. What you get from me is a senior, independent read you can take upstairs and the details your teams need to start moving towards success.
-
Where you stand now
A straight read of the current state of your site and the work being done on it — in plain language, not a scorecard only a specialist can interpret.
-
Whether you can trust it
Is the team or agency pointed at the right target, or optimizing yesterday's game well? An honest read on direction — the thing you can't get from the people being evaluated.
-
What to do: Stay · Change · Stop · Start · Investigate
Every area sorted into one of five moves, so nothing is left vague — plus your three highest-impact moves and a sequenced 90-day priority list your team can start on now.
-
Live AI test results
The same questions run across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini, showing exactly what AI says about you today. This becomes your baseline for measuring progress.
-
A scored four-layer diagnostic
Every finding rated across Find, Understand, Trust, and Use, with specific recommendations each of your teams can begin implementing today.
-
A 60-minute Executive Readout
During this meeting we'll discuss and answer your questions, then agree on what matters most and where to start.
See It In Action
A look at what you actually get
In your private results portal, you'll find a Written Executive Decision Brief that will include information like this:
Overall your brand shows excellent competitive visibility. You rank 6th of 120 brands, ahead of every direct competitor. However, when you look closer, you'll see that while you are strongly represented on some AI platforms, you're nearly absent on others (see table below). The gap points to structural and entity-level issues rather than weak content or authority.
Find
Understand
Trust
Use
Also in the Executive Brief, you'll find your three highest impact moves. Open any one to see the finding and the fix.
You're indexed under two different company names
alternateName + sameAs) and reconcile the legacy directory listings so every engine resolves you to a single entity.Your specs and services aren't machine-readable
WebPage schema site-wide. An agent building a comparison represents you with roughly 3 attributes and a competitor with 20 — a data-extractability gap, not a product gap.
Technical detail
Every sampled page emits only WordPress/Yoast defaults — no Product, Service, Organization, or Review types. Requires custom schema templates per page type.
schema.org/Product and schema.org/Service with name, description, provider, areaServed, and offer/spec properties, plus Review schema on testimonials.An agent can describe you, but can't do business with you
/.well-known/, and link product pages to a structured RFQ path with spec context carried through.The full audit is also included in your portal. There you'll see every finding scored, with the technical detail your team fixes from.
The Process
It starts with your business, not a form
I start with your business
When you request your Review, the first thing I ask about is your real objectives, the pressure you're under, and what your team has been asked to deliver, before I look at a single page. I measure your site against what matters to your business, not a generic checklist.
I run the independent diagnostic
I run the full four-layer audit and the live AI tests independently, not as the team or agency whose work is being evaluated. If I have questions I'll reach out; most Reviews are delivered within 10 business days.
You get the verdict and the evidence
The Executive Decision Brief is my read on whether you're pointed the right way and what to change, with the scored audit and live AI results underneath it, ready for your team to act on. We close with a 60-minute Executive Readout.

Questions
Frequently asked
Yes — strategically. I use AI tools to run agent visibility tests, analyze structured data, and accelerate parts of the diagnostic process. But every finding is reviewed, scored, and contextualized by me. The strategic assessment and recommendations are human judgment, informed by AI-assisted analysis.
No — it's giving them a target they can trust. Good teams get pointed at the wrong goal all the time when the field moves faster than the plan. The Review is an independent read of direction, not a performance review of people. Most teams are relieved to have a senior outside opinion, in writing, on what actually matters now, and something to build against.
The Review stands on its own — most clients take the brief to their team and run with it, which is exactly how it's meant to work. If you'd rather not go it alone and you want someone independent staying in the picture to keep you pointed the right way as AI search keeps moving, that's the Fractional Director, SEO & AI Search. Some people start there right after the Review; some come back six months later; some never do. The retainer only makes sense if it's right for both of us.
I do not require access to your GA/GSC or other internal accounts for this Review. However, in our onboarding conversation, we will want to discuss your roadmap, agency reports and results, etc.
Most Reviews are delivered within 10 business days. You'll receive your full package — Executive Decision Brief, scored diagnostic, 90-day priority list, and live AI test results — all at once, followed by your 60-minute Executive Readout.
No, and I'd be skeptical of anyone who does. What I can tell you is exactly where your site is falling short with AI agents, give you a prioritized plan for improvement, and provide a baseline so you can measure progress. The companies that act on these findings consistently see improved AI visibility, but I won't put a number on it before seeing your data.
