Is Your Website Ready for AI Agents?

You built your website for humans, but they aren't the only ones visiting it today. If what you've built can't be read or understood by AI agents, all your hard work goes down the drain.

The Agent Readiness Audit is a 31-point website diagnostic checkup and roadmap that shows you what works, what doesn't, and what to fix first.

AI Agents Don't Read Like Humans Do

AI agents, language models, and answer engines are replacing the browser as the primary way businesses get discovered and evaluated. Your customers are asking ChatGPT or Claude before they Google.

Before any of those agents and engines will recommend your site, they must be able to:

Find it
Are you blocking them on purpose or by mistake?
Understand it
Is your content built in a way they can interpret?
Trust it
Can you be the authority they recommend?

Only if your website passes all three of these readiness levels can it participate in an Internet economy projected to reach more than $1 trillion in commerce orchestrated by AI agents by 2030.

This is not a traditional SEO audit.

Traditional SEO audits were designed for a world where humans search and search engines return ranked links. The agentic web operates on different principles entirely.

What's evaluated Traditional SEO Audit Agent Readiness Audit
Page speed & Core Web Vitals Primary focus - AI agents don't experience "slow"
Keyword optimization Density & placement - Agents parse intent, not keywords
Backlink profile Quantity & authority Partial - entity authority signals matter differently
Schema & structured data depth Surface check only Entity relationships & completeness
Accessibility & ARIA compliance Occasional Shared foundation with agent parsing
AI crawler access (GPTBot, ClaudeBot) - Not evaluated Bot-specific permissions audited
JavaScript rendering for agents - Not evaluated Can agents see your content?
Edge AI features (Markdown for Agents, bot management) - Not evaluated CDN-level AI controls assessed
AI platform visibility testing - Not evaluated Live queries across 4 AI platforms
Cross-platform entity consistency - Not evaluated How agents verify who you are

Three questions. 31 points. Every layer that matters.

The Agent Readiness Audit evaluates your site against a proprietary framework built from real-world testing across hundreds of AI agent interactions. It's not a checklist -it's a diagnostic that tells you what's broken, why it matters, and what to prioritize.

1

Can agents find you?

The infrastructure layer. Are AI crawlers welcomed or blocked? Can agents actually access and render your content? Do you have the signals that tell AI systems your site is open for business, or are you accidentally invisible?

"Every major infrastructure shift resets the findability problem. I'll check whether AI crawlers can actually reach and render your content, from robots.txt directives to JavaScript compilation to the new agent discovery protocols."

2

Can agents understand you?

The structure layer. Is your content semantically organized so agents can interpret it, not just read it? Schema markup, entity relationships, content hierarchy, and structured data turn a website from a wall of text into a knowledge source agents can work with. Most companies fail here.

"Most companies think having structured content means having formatted content. They're not the same thing. I evaluate whether your schema, semantic markup, and content hierarchy actually give AI agents something they can work with, or just look organized to a human eye."

3

Can agents trust you?

The authority layer. When an AI agent decides whether to cite you, recommend you, or surface you in an answer, what signals does it find? This is where most businesses discover their biggest blind spot.

"This is the blind spot. AI agents verify what your site claims by checking it against every other source they can find. I test what four major AI platforms actually say about your business today and trace where the inconsistencies are coming from."

Here's what actual findings look like — from a real audit, client identity redacted.

Medium
Selective AI Crawler Management

Modern AI platforms each send their own named crawler to read your website. Explicitly allowing these crawlers by name signals that your site welcomes AI indexing and can improve crawl priority.

What we found This site has explicit rules for Claude's bots but does not address GPTBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, Bytespider, or other AI crawlers. While technically allowed under the wildcard rule, adding explicit Allow directives for each signals intent and can improve how thoroughly they index your content.
Technical detail

AI crawlers not specifically addressed: GPTBot, Google-Extended, Bytespider, CCBot, Anthropic-AI, PerplexityBot, Amazonbot. These all fall under User-Agent: * (permissive). The selective Claude-only approach may be from an early implementation before other AI crawlers became standard.

Recommendation: Add explicit Allow: / directives for GPTBot, Google-Extended, PerplexityBot, Bytespider, CCBot, and Amazonbot.
High
Services Pages Lack Service Schema

Schema.org Service markup tells AI systems "this page describes a professional service." Without it, AI models must guess whether a page is about services, a blog post, or something else entirely.

What we found Both the services overview and service detail pages use generic WebPage schema. Neither declares Service or ProfessionalService type. When a prospect asks AI "What services does this firm offer?", the AI cannot cite structured schema and must parse unstructured text instead.
Technical detail

WordPress theme defaults to WebPage type for all pages. Yoast SEO does not auto-generate Service schema. Requires custom post type schema template in child theme.

Pages affected:

  • https://████████.com/service-areas — has_service: false
  • https://████████.com/service-areas/strategy-scale — has_service: false
Recommendation: Implement schema.org/Service on all service pages with properties: name, description, provider (Organization), areaServed, serviceType.
High
Zero Visibility Across All AI Models

AI visibility measures whether AI systems mention your firm when users ask questions in your industry. We test this by running structured conversations across multiple AI models and tracking which firms are mentioned.

What we found This firm has 0% visibility across all four AI model families tested: DeepSeek, Perplexity, Gemini, and OpenAI. In 80 AI conversations, the firm was never mentioned. This is not a ranking problem. The firm is completely absent from AI answers about their industry.
Technical detail

20 prompts generating 80 conversations across 4 model families. This site: 0 mentions across 397 total source citations. Top cited in category: bcg.com (23), mckinsey.com (22), youtube.com (17), pwc.com (17), deloitte.com (15), bain.com (15).

Recommendation: This finding is the result of compounding failures across Find and Understand dimensions. Fixing schema, content depth, and authority signals will begin building the foundation for visibility. Re-run testing in 90 days after implementing initial fixes.

Frequently asked

Yes — strategically. I use AI tools to run agent visibility tests, analyze structured data, and accelerate parts of the diagnostic process. But every finding is reviewed, scored, and contextualized by me. The strategic assessment and recommendations are human judgment, informed by AI-assisted analysis.

That's what the Agent Readiness Roadmap is for. The Audit tells you what's broken across all three layers. The Roadmap gives you the paint-by-numbers fix: a page template inventory, schema type mapping per template, semantic HTML blueprints, and sample schema built against your real content. Your internal team or agency executes from the blueprint. Scoped per engagement, $3,500 to $15,000.

The Roadmap is built for exactly this. It delivers the implementation blueprint your team needs to do the work correctly — not a list of recommendations, but the actual schema, markup patterns, and content structure decisions mapped to your page templates. I don't execute the code changes myself, but the Roadmap removes the guesswork so your developers or agency can ship the fixes confidently.

Most audits are delivered within 10 business days. You'll receive your full package - executive summary, diagnostic report, action roadmap, AI test results, and personalized video walkthrough - all at once.

No, and I'd be skeptical of anyone who does. What I can tell you is exactly where your site is falling short with AI agents, give you a prioritized plan for improvement, and provide a baseline so you can measure progress. The companies that act on these findings consistently see improved AI visibility, but I won't put a number on it before seeing your data.

Google rankings and AI agent visibility are related but not the same thing. Some companies that rank well on Google are invisible to AI agents because they lack the structured data and entity signals that AI systems rely on. This audit evaluates a different surface - one that's becoming more important every quarter.
